Callaway 2023 Great Big Bertha

The latest edition to the Callaway range of clubs is now available, the Great Big Bertha. The Great Big Bertha family will provide a solution for those seeking further speed and distance. The Great Big Bertha comes in at 30 grams lighter than the Rogue ST MAX Driver has specifically been designed to increase distance with a draw bias, for those with a moderate swing speed.

The new design showcases an ultra-lightweight build, with a Triaxial Carbon Crown and a Forged Carbon Sole to help increase MOI. With the added discretionary weight now in the head, Callaway were able to move the Centre of Gravity (CG) lower and deeper, this helps to increase forgiveness for off centre hits, and the addition of the steel sole makes it much easier for the average golfer to hit a draw for extra distance.

The Great Big Bertha will once again use Callaway's Jailbreak technology, constructed with A.I. for enhanced horizontal and torsional stability. This helps to firm the face over a greater distance for optimal ball speed even with off-centre hits. The Callaway team have also used A.I. technology to help construct their spin optimisation, which increases ball speed off the face, while lowering spin to help maximise total carry and distance.  The Great Big Bertha driver is available in 9, 10.5 & 12 degree heads for the right handers and 9 and 10.5 for left handers.

The Great Big Bertha fairway woods are made of a fully titanium face and body, this provides greater weight and strength advantages when compared to traditional steel fairway woods. Similar to the build of the driver, the fairway wood also has Jailbreak and Batwing technology which complement each other to enhance overall speed across the face. The GBB fairway comes in 3W, 5W, 7W and 9W options, with the latter two only available in right hand.

The new GBB hybrids are also worth a look, if you are in need of plugging a distance gap between your longest iron and fairway wood, these could definitely play a role in your bag. These hybrids are built from driver DNA, helping to create exceptional ball speed as well as forgiveness, which is the predominant role of a hybrid. Similar to the fairway wood, it Is made up of a fully titanium face and body to save weight and increase MOI as well as Jailbreak and Batwing technology. These come in 3H, 4H, 5H & 6H for both right hand and left hand, and 7H and 8H available in right hand.

The final member of the new GBB family is the iron set. Described as "the titanium iron reinvented", it is certainly an exciting prospect for 2023. It is Callaway's first ultra-premium multi-piece titanium built iron, with the idea of driver like performance with iron precision. The titanium face and body is combined with 145 grams of tungsten for new levels of speed, forgiveness and overall performance.

The full Great Big Bertha range is set to be available later on this month. In the meantime you can check out the full Callaway range here.
